Conditions for employer sponsor scheme
Both the employee and employer must be approved by the Department of Home Affairs as a suitable employee or appropriate sponsor. To apply under employer sponsor visa, applicants need to undergo skills assessment. On the other hand, the sponsoring employer must have to prove that the required position in their business cannot be filled with Australian labor. Employer and employee must meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for employer sponsorship.
Employer Sponsored Visa is depend on various factor including:
- The employer’s reputation in the market, location, trading history and whether he is in genuine need for the position to be filled.
- The shortage occupation list, the nominated position and the offered salary
- Employee’s relevant qualification and work experience
- Age and English competency of the applicant
Types of employer sponsor visa
Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (subclass 482) – TSS
You can live and work in Australia from 1 year to 4 years if you have an employer-sponsored 482 temporary visa. It depends on the nominated occupation and whether that occupation is on the short-term list, medium-term list or regional occupation list that what will be the visa length, English requirements and pathway to Australian permanent residency.
Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)
Employer nominated visas give permanent residency to you and your family. This type of visa has two pathways including the Temporary Residence Transition and the Direct Entry.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494)
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa has replaced the 187 (RSMS) visa in November 2019. 9,000 places are available annually under this visa. This visa type provides a pathway to Australian permanent residency after living a number of years in the country.
Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408)
If you have to visit Australia for certain activities for a short period of time then you can apply for a Temporary Activity Visa. You can undertake certain activities such as sports coaching and research activities in the country on a temporary basis.
