There are five different levels of the Australian student visa assessment program. All students’ visa requirements are brought into line with the immigration risk posed by applicants from a particular country studying in a particular education division. An applicant needs to provide more evidence in case of the greater assessment level to support their claims to get a student visa. Australia offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral degrees programs to international students. You need to provide proof of confirmation of enrollment for a qualified course from a participating institution at the time that you file your applications.

Assessment Level 1

Assessment level 1 signifies the lowest immigration risk. Different types of student visas and subclasses are based on the education sector of the student’s main course of study. Following are these subclasses:

• 570 – Independent ELICOS 

• 571 – Schools 

• 572 – Vocational Education and Training 

• 573 – Higher Education 

• 574 – Postgraduate Research 

• 575 – Non-Award 

• 576 – AusAID or Defence 

Assessment Level 2

Under Australia student, visa assessment level 2 every student comes who is sponsored by AusAis or Defence. They can apply under visa subclass 576 who has a valid passport. If a student is not listed in the table then there is visa subclass 574 for postgraduate research under assessment level 2.

Assessment Level 3

Under assessment level 3 with the course of study you can apply under the following education sectors:

• 570 – Independent ELICOS 

• 571 – Schools 

• 572 – Vocational Education and Training 

• 573 – Higher Education 

• 575 – Non-Award.

Bringing Family

If you apply for a student visa in Australia then you will get a benefit like you can bring your family members to Australia as your dependents. But there are some terms and conditions for students including:

• Entitled for assessment level 1 or 2; or assessment level 3 or 4

• The course duration must be longer than 12 months or the students have been residing in Australia for the last 12 months or more.

Family Member’s Assessment Level

The family members are eligible to apply for a visa to go with the students to Australia. The same assessment level is required regardless of the type of passport the family member holds.
